Quenching and partitioning heat treatment: the third generation of advanced high-strength steel

This manuscript aims to present an overview of quenching and partitioning (Q&P) heat treatment usually applied transformation-induced plasticity (TRIP) duplex steels (DP). TRIP DP are the first generations advanced high-strength (AHSS). AHSSs multiphase microstructures that ensure advantageous combination strength ductility. The Q&P process obtain a mixed microstructure with martensite retained austenite improve relation strength/ductility common AHSS. is rich in carbon stable at room temperature. implicates steel between martensite-start (Ms) martensite-finish (Mf) temperatures, followed by partitioning. Partitioning isothermal occurs above Ms A diffusion enriches remaining migrates from martensite. stability temperature improves mechanical performance steel, once it increases material’s toughness elongation. optimal control originates third generation AHSS enables reduce weight improved response automotive parts made steels.
